To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle equipped with an internal heat exchanger 6, capable of eliminating the use of an accumulator and expediting desired cooling capability for an evaporator 5.
Refrigerant outputted from a compressor 1 has a refrigerating cycle for returning to a compressor 1 through a condenser 2, an expansion valve 4, and the evaporator 5 for circulation. There are also provided the internal heat exchanger 6 which exchanges the heat of refrigerant flowing toward the expansion valve 4 from the compressor 1 and the one of the refrigerant flowing from the evaporator 5 to the compressor 1. A superheat amount detecting means for detecting the superheat amount of the refrigerant is provided at one passage from the evaporator 5 to the compressor 1. Moreover, there is also provided a control means which adjusts the opening of the expansion valve 4 based on a detection signal of the superheat amount detection means to make the refrigerant flowing in the compressor 1 in a superheat condition.
