The air conditioner includes a drain pan where drain water dripping from a heat exchanger is stored, the drain pump which discharges the drain water in the drain pan to a drain channel, an electric motor 6 which drives the drain pump, and control means including a control part 21 for controlling operation of the electric motor 6 and an overcurrent detection part 22 which detects an overcurrent of the electric motor 6, and is characterized in that when the overcurrent detection part 22 detects the overcurrent, the control part 21 restarts the operation of the electric motor 6 after stopping the operation of the electric motor 6.
