To provide an air conditioning system capable of detecting a distance from an indoor unit to a person in a space more accurately, and capable of carrying out air conditioning operation more suiting the person in the space in response to the detected distance.
The air conditioning system carrying out air conditioning of the space by the indoor unit 11 is provided with a CCD camera 31 shooting a person existing in the space, an image extracting means 42 for extracting a face image from an image shot by the CCD camera 31, a distance calculating means 45 for comparing the face image extracted by the image extracting means 42 with a reference face image and calculating the distance to the person from the indoor unit 11 based on a comparison result, and an operation control means 47 for carrying out air conditioning operation in response to the distance calculated by the distance calculating means 45.
