To provide a compact air cooling type exhaust gas cooling tower capable of cooling an exhaust gas and removing ash dust.
An inner shell 28 is formed into the cylindrical shape opened downward and the exhaust gas is introduced thereto from an upper portion. An outer shell 29 has the cylindrical shape extending upward and downward with respect to the inner shell 28, and mounted in a state of forming a circular space 30 with the inner shell 28. A partitioning plate 36 is mounted in a state of being separated downward from a lower end portion of the inner shell 28, and closing a lower portion of the outer shell 29. The air is jetted to the circular space 30 through an air pipe 40 mounted on the partitioning plate 36. Thus the exhaust gas introduced from the upper portion of the inner shell 28 is U-turned at a lower portion of the inner shell 28 and discharged from an upper portion of the outer shell 29. By forming an 45° elbow on an upper end portion of the air pipe 40, swirl flow is generated in the circular space 30, so that the ash dust in the exhaust gas can be centrifugally separated.
