PURPOSE: To cool articles which are displayed and exhibited irregularly in a case, uniformly at a predetermined temperature and keep them cold by permitting an air flow passage to branch within a range in which a circulating stream of air flows out of an evaporator and reaches the upper end of the case and forming a front side branching passage on the front side of the case and a rear side branching passage on the rear side of the case.

CONSTITUTION: An air flow passage 20 is permitted to branch by dividing the interior of the same longitudinally with a partition 27 within a range in which a circulating stream 19 of air flows out of an evaporator 16 and reaches the upper end of a case 1, so as to form a front side branching passage 28 on the front side of the case 1 and a rear side branching passage 29 on the rear side thereof. Part of the circulating stream 19 flowing through the rear side branching passage 29 is blown from an outlet port 11 while part of the circulating stream 19 flowing through the front side branching passage 28 is streamed out of air ports 13 or communicating holes 30 to forward portions on the side of display shelves 21 in the case 1. By this method, articles displayed and exhibited in the case 1 are kept cold by an air curtain 18 which is formed by part of the circulating stream 19 flowing through the rear side branching passage 29 and which covers an opening 2 of the case 1, whereby the foodstuffs are refrigerated in a good condition.
