Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism that monitors the tire system pressure and automatically replenishes the tire pressure when it is lower than its optimal amount.SOLUTION: A pump assembly for use with a pneumatic tire mounted on a tire rim to prevent the pneumatic tire from becoming underinflated comprises: at least one pump installed in a housing having a container part, the housing being attached to the tire rim, the pump having a first chamber and a second chamber, where the outlet of the first chamber is led into the inlet of the second chamber; and a cam 300 for producing a pumping action, the cam 300 being connected to the gravity mass for maintaining the cam 300 in a fixed position. The pump has an actuating arm for engaging with the cam 300 and producing the pumping action as the tire rotates.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
