To provide an air purification apparatus capable of detecting the level necessary to carry out air purification not only in the periphery of the air purification apparatus body but also in any place of a room and capable of automatically carrying out air purification corresponding to the required level.
This air purification apparatus comprises an air purification apparatus body 1 and remote controller 50 for remotely operating the air purification apparatus body 1. The air purification apparatus body 1 and the remote controller 50 are respectively provided with sensors (pollution sensors 24, 25 and human body sensors 46, 56) for detecting the level necessary to carry out air purification. The air purification apparatus body 1 is further provided with a control part which controls the operation level of the body 1 at the maximum levels of the sensor output level sent out of the remote controller 50 and the sensor output level sent out of the body 1 based on those sensor output levels.
