Abstract:

To provide an air ultrasonic sensor provided with a matching layer having an optimal shape and dimension for acquiring a high transmitted wave signal strength and an SN ratio, and a shape determining method thereof.

As for a determining method (Steps S1-S9) of a shape of a matching layer 11 of an air ultrasonic sensor 1, a transmitted wave component propagating to a focus point 21 is made to be either a first wave component 22 or a second wave component 23, and any transmitted wave component is determined so as to focus on a certain same focus point 21. A point on a radial plane 13 of the matching layer 11 is calculated in an inverse operation from the focus point 21 so that both wave components 22 and 23 may be excited most effectively. A first wave excitation shape 13a and a second wave excitation shape are determined from a trajectory of points 14 thereof, and the radial plane shape 13 obtained by combining them is determined. The signal strength and the SN ratio of an ultrasonic wave which is emitted from the matching layer 11 provided with this radial plane shape 13 and transmitted on the focus point 21 of a measurement object 2 are enhanced remarkably.
