The air washer 10 is provided with an upstream side gas-liquid contacting section 12A that makes first washing liquid sw1 contact treated air PA containing a removing object substance, a downstream side gas-liquid contacting section 12B that makes a second washing liquids w2 that is not in contact with the treated air PA, QA contact treated air QA passing through the section 12A, a detector 36 that detects the concentration of the removing object substance in a second treated washing liquid tw2 from which the removing object substance is removed, a circulating pipe 21 that supplies a mixed washing liquid mw containing a first treated washing liquid tw1 and the liquid tw2 as the liquid sw1 to the section 12A, and mixed washing liquid dilution means 23, 29, 33, 39 that dilute the concentration of the removing object substance in the mixed washing liquid mw so as to make the detection results with the detector 36 to be converged within a predetermined scope.
