Title:
AIRTIGHT SEAL STRUCTURE FOR OPTICAL FIBER LEAD-IN PART
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03259105
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To seal the optical fiber lead-in part airtightly by removing the jacket material of an optical fiber, using a filler in a small hole which is formed in a housing body to an enough diameter for optical axis adjustment, and sealing and fixing the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The jacket material 10 is removed previously at the part of the optical fiber 6 positioned in the housing 2. Then a filler bank is formed nearby the small hole 12 formed in the side wall of the housing 2. When the diameter of the small hole 12 is about 1 mm, the optical axis can be adjusted while the optical fiber 6 is set penetrating the small hole 12. Then solder 18is charged between metal film 16 of Au, etc., formed at the part of the optical fiber 6 penetrating the small hole 12 and the small hole 12 to complete the airtight sealing. Consequently, the optical fiber lead-in part can be sealed airtightly while the optical axis is easily adjusted and deterioration in the airtight sealing due to secular change is small.
