NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic B-41E shown by the formulaI(appearance: noncrystalline powder; molecular weight: 572; solubility; easily soluble in n-hexane, ethyl acetate, acetone, etc., slightly soluble in water) or an antibiotic B-41F shown by the formula II (appearance: noncrystalline powder; molecular weight: 665; solubility: similar to that of antibiotic B-41E).
USE: An acaricide. Effective against an imago and a nit of tetranychus, panonychus ulmi Koch, panonychus, Aclus pelekassi Keifer, or effective against ixodidac, dermanysside, and sarcoptidae.
PROCESS: A bacterium belonging to the genus Streptomyces, capable of producting antibiotic B-41E and B-41F [e.g., Streptomyces B-41-146 strain (FERM-P1438)] is subjected to liquid culture under aerobic conditions, especially by submerged culture at 22W30°C, the culture is filtered to extract and to condense the desired substance, to give an oily substance, which is adsorbed on a silica gel column and eluted with n-hexane:acetone (95:5) to collect B-41E. F-41E is collected by n-hexane: acetone (80:20). Purification is carried out.
