Abstract:

To provide an Al-based sliding member improved in seizure resistance.

A bearing alloy layer 11 composed of an Al-based sliding member containing Sn comprises: a sliding material layer 20; a sliding surface 21; a recession 22; and an Sn block 23. The sliding material layer 20 is formed by an Al matrix, and has substantially the same hardness in the thickness direction. The sliding surface 21 is formed on one end surface of the sliding material layer 20. The recession 22 is recessed to an inner side of the sliding material layer 20 from the sliding surface 21. The Sn block 23 exists in the inside of the recession 22, and is a chip smaller than the recession 22. The Sn block 23 remaining in the recession 22 is only adhered to the Al matrix of the sliding material layer 20. Therefore, the Sn block 23 is separated from the recession 22 in sliding with a mating material, and an Sn film is formed on the sliding surface 21.
