Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an Al alloy for connector having superior characteristics such as corrosion resistance, strength, brazing characteristic, etc., at a joint in porthole extrusion, by incorporating prescribed percentage of Mg, Mn, and Cu.

CONSTITUTION: The Al alloy for connector has a composition consisting of, by weight, 1.3W3.0% Mg, 0.5W1.5% Mn, >0.5W0.7% Cu, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. As compared with conventional Al alloys, the Al alloy of this invention is excellent in above-mentioned various characteristics and it produces industrially marked effects as Al alloy material for connector for Al heat exchanger for use in automobile air conditioner, etc.
