To provide an alarming method and device for a rear-end collision of vehicle capable of reducing the emission of unnecessary alarms.
To an alarm emitting means 30, a rear-end collision determination means 10 gives a primary alarm request signal 11 when the inter-vehicle distance becomes shorter than the alarm starting distance and a secondary alarm request signal 12 when it becomes shorter than the rear-end collision limit distance. Also to the alarm emitting means 30, a motion predicting means 20 gives a rear-end collision avoiding operation predicting signal in the case a rear-end collision avoiding operation is predicted to be done by the driver within a specified time. When the primary alarm request signal 11 is emitted, the alarm emitting means 30 emits a primary alarm from an alarm device 41 if no rear-end collision avoiding operation predicting signal is emitted from the motion predicting means 20, and stops the emission of the primary alarm if such predicting signal is emitted. When the secondary alarm request signal 12 is emitted, the alarm emitting means 30 emits a secondary alarm from the alarm device 41 to actuates a brake device 42 to light brake lamp(s) 43.
