To obtain an alicyclic compound capable of providing a cured product excellent in weather resistance, hardly causing weight loss caused by the volatili zation at the time of the curing, further capable of providing the cured product excellent in water resistance, usable as a cross-linking material for a coating material, an electric insulating material, a cast molding material, an adhesive or the like, and having a new structure with a reactive alicyclic group.
This alicyclic compound is represented by general formula (1) {wherein, R is a residue obtained by removing hydrogens of the alcoholic hydroxy groups from a ≥3C alcoholic organic compound having two or more alcoholic hydroxy groups; x, y, (a) and (b) are each an integer of ≥0 with the proviso that [x+y+(a)+(b)] is ≥2 and (x+y) is an integer of ≥1; X is a specific unsaturated alicyclic group; and Y is a specific alicyclic epoxy group- containing alicyclic group).
