Abstract:
To provide an alicyclic structure polymer which holds the good optical characteristics, such as transparency, heat resistance, chemical resistance, electric characteristics, low water absorption, and the like of ordinary alicyclic structure polymers and simultaneously has excellent low birefringence, and to provide an optical material using the polymer.
This alicyclic structure polymer containing at least one kind of polymerization units represented by general formula (1) or formula (2) [(n) is 0 to 2; X is -CH=CH- or -CH2-CH2-; R1 to R5 are each identically or differently H, a halogen element, or a monovalent substituent (excluding groups having aromatic rings, heterocyclic groups or alicyclic groups)].
