Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simultaneously adjust both toe position and neutral position within a short time by obtaining a slight toe adjusting value with which the angle of a spook which is measured by a spook angle measuring device is set to zero with respect to the neutral position thereof so as to compensate a toe adjusting value which is measured by an alignment tester.

CONSTITUTION: A spook angle measuring device 14 for measuring an angle of a spook 1a of a steering wheel 1 with respect to a neutral position is set on the upper surface of the steering wheel 1, and toe-in and toe-out angles of wheels are measured by an alignment tester, and an angle of the spook 1a is measured by the spook angle measuring device 14. Thus, the measured values are delivered to a computer. An temporary adjusting value is obtained in accordance with a measured value by the alignment tester, and a bent angle of the spook which remains after adjustment in accordance with the temporary adjusting value is calculated so as to obtain a toe-in angle or a toe-out angle with which the bent angle of the spook becomes zero, and these values are compensated to temporary adjust values so as to calculate actual adjusting values for adjustment.
