To provide an alkali-soluble resin having elaborate processability and heat resistance necessary for protective film materials for electronic devices, insulation film materials and imageforming materials used in e.g. ink resins for LCD color filters, a onepackage image-forming material having excellent storage stability and an image element having excellent heat resistance.
There are provided an alkali-soluble resin being a copolymer resin essentially consisting of a (meth)acrylic acid component (A) and an alicyclic epoxy polymerizable unsaturated monomer (B), wherein the amount of component A copolymerized accounts for 20-45 mol% of the total monomer component, that of component B copolymerized is 80-200%, based on component A, and the weight-average molecular weight is larger than 1,000, and further in addition to components A and B, at least 5 mol%, based on the total monomer component, aliphatic polycyclic compound copolymerized is contained, an image-forming material using this resin and an image element formed from this material.
