Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:An alkyl-dicyclopentenyl fumarate expressed by the formula (R is 1W24C alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 2-Ethylhexyldicyclopentenyl fumarate.
USE: A vinyl based monomer useful for producing a resin for coating materials, bonding resin, molding resin, etc., and having one fumarate group having the copolymerizability with another vinyl based monomer, e.g. styrene, methylstyrene, etc., one dicyclopentenyl group reactive with oxygen, etc., and alkyl group for adjusting performance.
PREPARATION: For example, tricyclo[5,2,1,021]-3-decene-8(or 9)-ol, a monoalcohol, maleic acid (anhydride) and/or fumaric acid are subjected to ester condensation to afford the aimed compound expressed by the formula.
