Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a coated tool in which the adhesive strength between a substrate and alumina coating is high and free from the generation of problems of peeling or the like.
SOLUTION: This alumina-coated tool is the one in which multi-layer coating is formed on the surface of a substrate, and in this multi-layer coating, oxidized coating essentially consisting of α-Al2O3 is formed on nonoxidized coating composed of one or more kinds among the carbide, nitride and carbon nitride of the group 4a, 5a and 6a metals in the Periodic Table. In this case, between the nonoxidized coating and the oxidized coating, a bonding layer with an fcc structure composed of single-layer coating or multi-layer coating of the oxide, oxygen carbide, oxygen nitride and oxygen carbon nitride is formed.
