Abstract:

To provide a castable refractory which has high strengths and can reduce the occurrence of cracks and peeling to lower the wear rate more than the conventional material.

The castable refractory is an alumina-magnesia castable refractory containing an alumina raw material, a magnesia raw material and a hardening agent. In the alumina-magnesia castable refractory, either or both of a magnesia fine powder containing particles having particles diameters of 10 to 300 μm in an amount of ≥90 mass % and magnesia particles having particle diameters of 1 to 5 mm is contained, as the alumina raw material, in an amount of 1 to 30 mass %, based on the total mass of the alumina raw material, the magnesia raw material and the curing material, and further, a silica ultrafine powder having particle diameters of ≤45 μm is contained in an amount of 0.2 to 3 mass %, expressed in terms of outer percentage, to the total mass.
