Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the title Al alloy having excellent adhesion of electroless plating in the base and excellent surface characteristics by specifying the compsn. consisting of Cu, Mg, Zn, Cr and Al and regulating Si and Fe as inevitable impurities.

CONSTITUTION: The Al alloy for a magnetic disk substrate contains, as essential elements, by weight, 0.26W2.0% Cu, 2.0W6.0% Mg, 0.001W2.0% Zn and 0.005W0.04% Cr, furthermore contains at need one or more kinds among 0.01W1.0% Mn, 0.001W0.1% Zr and 0.001"0.05% Ti, regulatively contains, as impurity elements, ≤0.1% Si and ≤0.1% Fe and the balance consisting of inevitable impurities with Al. The alloy having excellent adhesion of electroless plating as base treatment and having lubricant and faultless plated finish surface can be obtd.
