Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aluminum hydroxide, having specific properties, good in moldability, excellent in molding cycling properties at the time of curing and capable of providing a resin composition excellent in mechanical strength and appearance of a molding product after curing thereof by application thereof to a resin.
SOLUTION: This aluminum hydroxide is alumina hydrate of the formula, Al2O3.nH2O [(n) is 1-3] having 5 to 30μm, preferably 8-20μm average particle diameter, 0.5-4.5m2/g, preferably 1.5-3.0m2/g BET surface area, 2-10, preferably 4-8 shape factor measured with X-rays [peak intensity ratio of (002) face/(110) face of gibbsite] and ≥93, preferably ≥95 whiteness degree (preferably alumina trihydrate). The resin composition is obtained by filling 50-400 pts.wt. aluminum hydroxide in 100 pts.wt. unsaturated polyester resin, vinyl ester resin or methacrylate resin.
