Abstract:
To provide a light-weight aluminum propeller shaft having strength equivalent to that of a steel propeller shaft.
In this aluminum propeller shaft, yokes 20 and 20' for connection to the joint part are formed in both ends of a shaft tube 10. Each of the yokes 20 and 20' is constructed of an ed part member 2 having an integrally formed joint part 21 for connection to the shaft tube 10. When the yokes 20 and 20' are assembled to the shaft tube 10 via the joint parts 21, the shaft tube 10 and the yoke, 20 and the joint part 21' are integrally connected together by frictional stirring connection in the assembled parts.
