To provide a compound having excellent pest-controlling activities.

This amidine compound is represented by general formula (1) [wherein, X and Y are each a halogen atom or the like; Z is a 1-6C haloalkyl group; R1 is a halogen atom or the like; R2 and R3 are each a halogen atom or a 1-6C haloalkyl group; and R4 is a group represented by NR6R7 or a group represented by N=CR9R9]. The pest-controlling agent is characterized by the amidine compound included therein as an active ingredient.
