NEW MATERIAL: A compd. represented by formula (R1 is R7-CO-etc.; Z is amino acid; E is amino acid; Q is O or NR6; Y is -GtH2t-R13, etc.; R2, R5, R6 and R9 are each H or A; R3 and R13 are each H, A, Ar, etc.; R4 is (H or OH), etc.; R7 is R9R10N-Cj.H2j-T-Ck-H2k-; R10 is H, A, etc.; T is O, S, NH; etc.; R9R10N is pyrrolidino, etc.; a is 1 or 2; j and k are each 1-6; t is 0-10; Ar is phenyl or non-substd. naphthyl and A is 1-8C alkyl, etc.).

EXAMPLE: 4-(2-pyrimidinyl)-piperadinocarbonyl-Phe-His-AHCP-Ile-AMPA.

USE: A renin inhibitor useful for hypertensive, heart failure and an ordosterone excess symtom.

PROCESS: One kind of a functional deriv. of a compd. represented by formula is treated with a solvolyzing agent or a hydrocracking agent to convert the compd. to its free type compd. to obtain the compd. represented by the formula.
