Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL: A compound of formula I [wherein R1 is formula II or III; Z is O, CH2, NR8 or the like; E is a group composed of 0-2 amino acid molecules bonded through a peptide bond; Q is O or NR9; Y is CtH2t-R10, CtH2t- R11 or the like; R2, R5, R8 or R9 are each H or A (wherein A is an alkyl); R3, R6, R7 and R10 are each H, A, Ar (wherein Ar is phenyl or naphthyl), a cycloalkyl or the like; R4 is (H, OH), (H, NH2) or O; R11 is SO3H, NH2, NA2 or the like; k, p, r and t are each 0-5; m is 1-3; n is 1 or 2; and x is 0-2] and a salt thereof.

EXAMPLE: (2-Benzyl-3-t-butylsulfonylpropionyl-β Ala-AHCP-Ile(N-4-amino-2- methyl-5-pyrimidinylmethylamide).

USE: A medicine for controlling renin-dependent hypertension or hyperaldosteronemia.

PREPARATION: A functional derivative of a compound of formula I is reacted with a solvolyzing agent or hydrogenolyzing agent to obtain a compound of formula I.
