NEW MATERIAL:The amphipathic azacrown compound of formula I (R is ≥3C alkyl; n is positive integer).
EXAMPLE: The azacrown compound of formula II.
USE: Utilizable widely as a surfactant, a surface-treating agent, or a selective permeable membrane having high permeation performance or a sensor attached to various electrodes and produced by spreading the compound on a water surface, and transferring the ultrathin film of the molecular order thickness on a substrate plate.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a dialkyl malonate with an alkyl halide, and reacting the resultant compound of formula RCH(COOR')2 (R' is alkyl) with the polyamine of formula NH2(C2H4 NH)n+1H. Since hydrophobic property is imparted to the hydrophilic azacrown compound to obtain an amphipathic nature by the alkylation of the α-site of the malonic acid group, the obtained compound is expected to be useful over a wide application field.
