Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reinforce optical amplification medium and to reduce parasitic vibration inside it, by comprising an amplification medium of a solid laser comprising an external surface and a diamond coating assigning on at least a part of the external surface. CONSTITUTION: A solid amplification 10 comprise a long rod having a circular external surface 12, with a diamond coating 14 assigned on the external surface 12. Since the coating 14 has, compared to the medium 10, larger elastic coefficient, larger heat conductivity and smaller coefficient of thermal expansion, a thermal stress in tangent line is reduced, and the coating 14 supplies a circumferential compressive stress against a circumferential tensile stress caused by temperature gradient, resulting in substantially reduced circumferential stress. The coefficient of semi-sphere reflection relating to a diamond interface 12 irradiated evenly is 1/8 of the value related to water or RTV rubber interface, and significant part of incident light on the diamond interface escapes from the medium, thus reducing possible occurrence of total internal reflection(TIR) and parasitic vibration.
