PURPOSE: To prevent possible disturbance of observation with an electronic probe X-ray microanalyzer (EPMA) without deformation of particles by filtering washing liquid components with a mesh filter to solidify a sediment on the mesh filter.
CONSTITUTION: A highly radioactive waste liquor as suspension is separated by natural deposition, and a supernatant liquid is removed with a syringe 1. Thereafter, nitric acid as washing liquid is applied to a sediment to wash by stirring. Then, the sediment containing the nitric acid is taken out with the syringe 1 and drops direct on a mesh filter 3 applied on a container 2 to filter the nitric acid component with the filter 3 while the sediment is solidified on the filter 3. Then, the sediment is analyzed by an EPMA and an X-ray diffraction. Here, as no load is applied on the sediment, particles not deformed can be observed as intact.
