To provide an anchor for a brush, which has sufficient hardness though it is a synthetic resin made anchor, which has less cracks or defects in setting bristles, and which can be used for the conventional brush base material made of general purpose plastic while taking natural environment into consideration, and also to provide a brush using the anchor.

The anchor 1 is buried in the setting holes 4 of a brush base material 3 together with a bristle material 2 for a brush and has a function of fixing the bristle material 2 in the brush base material 3. The anchor 1 for the brush is characterized in that it essentially constituted of synthetic resin having Izod impact strength (notched) of 15-100 J/m as measured in accordance with JIS K7110, that it has a cross sectional width of 0.5-3.0 mm in parallel with the bristle setting direction and also a thickness of 0.1-1.0 mm, and that the cross sectional shape is a polygon having quadrangle or more sides or an ellipse.
