Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable groove drilling by engaging and disengaging a lost bit with and from a drill rod.
CONSTITUTION: A lost bit 200 is engageably and disengageably mounted on a latch 122 at the tip of a bit catcher 100. The bit catcher 100 is inserted in a drive shoe 300 connected to the tip of a drill rod 10; and the rod engaging part of the lost bit 200 is engaged with the tip of the drill rod 10 to drill an anchor hole 41. After completing the drilling, an overshot 20 installed in a wire 21 is lowered in the drill rod 10 to engage with a retainer 11 at the upper end of the bit catcher 100. The bit catcher 100 is withdrawn. Next, an anchor material is inserted in the drill rod 10. The drill rod 10 is withdrawn with grouting applied through a gap between the anchor material and the rod.
