Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [X is nitro, amino, thioisocyanato, etc.; Y is lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, H, halogen, etc.; R is H or -OR1 (R1 is lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, etc.); A is O or S; B is lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, phenyl, etc.].

EXAMPLE: Isopropyl N-(3-nitro-4-ethoxy-5-methoxycarbonylphenyl)-carbamate.

USE: An agricultural and horticultural fungicide. It exhibits strong fungicidal effect selectively to fungi resistant to benzimidazole-thiophanate fungicides.

PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be prepared in high yield by reacting the compound of formula II with the compound of formula III (Z is halogen) in an organic solvent such as benzene in the presence of an acid acceptor such as pyridine.
