Abstract:

To provide a new anthracene compound, more specifically an anthracene compound suitably usable as a luminescent material for organic electroluminescent devices.

The new anthracene compound is represented by the general formula(1)[ wherein, R1to R4are each H, a straight-chain, branched or cyclic alkyl, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl; Y1to Y20are each H or a substituent; and Z is a substituted or unsubstituted phenylene group ]. Organic electroluminescent devices containing the new anthracene compound are also provided.
