Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new water-insoluble anthraquinone coloring matter having high tinting power, high brilliancy and improved hydrophobicity by preparing a water-soluble-group-free anthraquinone compound of a specified structure.
CONSTITUTION: A water-soluble-group-free anthraquinone coloring matter represented by formula I (wherein Rf is alkyl having at least three fluorine substituents and may have (chlorine-substituted) perfluoroalkoxyl or chlorine substituents; Z is (halogen-substituted)-CCH2)n-, -CH2CH=CH-; n is 1-8; the Rf- Z-O-CO- substituent is at the position 6 or 7; and X is H, alkyl, alkoxyalkyl or halogen). It can be produced by esterifying an anthraquinone-carboxylic acid of formula II with a fluorine-substituted alcohol of the formula: Rf-Z-OH in the presence of an acid catalyst or by reacting an acid halide of an anthraquinone-carboxylic acid with a fluorine-substituted alcohol.
