Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a new anthraquinone derivative exhibiting excellent electron transfer property and useful as an electron transfer material for producing a laminated photosensitive material acting by positive charge and usable in electrophotography.
CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I [R1 and R2 are each H, a (substituted)alkyl, a (substituted)aromatic group or a (substituted) heteroaromatic group], e.g. 2-(4-t-butylstyryl)anthraquinone. The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a formylanthraquinone of formula H with a compound of formula III [R11 and R22 are each R1; R33 and R44 are each a (substituted)alkyl] in a solvent (e.g. water, an alcohol, an aromatic hydrocarbon or DMF) in the presence of a base (e.g. potassium hydroxide, triethylamine or sodium methoxide) at -10 to +150°C, especially 0-80°C.
