PURPOSE: To prepare a coating compsn. which gives a coating film with long durable anti-fogging properties and abrasion resistance by compounding an epoxy group-contg. organosilicon compd., an ethylene oxide polymer-contg. organosilicon compd., a melamine resin, a polycarboxylic acid and a hardener.

CONSTITUTION: A composition comprising 100 pts.wt. organosilicon compd. (A) contg. an epoxy group-contg. non-hydrolyzable org. group and at least two hydrolyzable groups; 30-150 pts.wt. organosilicon compd. (B) contg. an ethylene oxide polymer of the formula (wherein R1 is an org. group contg. 1-4C alkyl or epoxy group; R2 is 1-4C alkyl; and n is 3-30); 10-150 pts.wt. reaction product (C) of melamine with an allkylaldehyde; an unsatd. or satd. polycarboxylic acid (anhydride) (D) in such an amt. that the equivalent ratio of the carboxylic group of D to the epoxy group of A and B plus the hydroxyl group of C is 0.1-1; and 0.3-5.0 pts.wt. hardener.
