NEW MATERIAL: (E)-N-{1(S)-methyl-3-[3-(4-fluorophenoxy)phenyl]prop-2-en-l- yl}acetohydroxamic acid and its salt.

USE: This new material is useful as an inhibitor of lipoxygenase and cyclo- oxygenase and also useful for treating and preventing symptons such as convulsions, allergy, fever, inflammatory, platelet coagulation or pain relief.

PROCESS: E-N, o-bis(acetyl)-N-{1(S)-methyl-3-[3-(4-fluorophenoxy)phenyl]prop-2-en-l- yl}hydroxylamine is bis-acetylated by using acetyl chloride in the presence of a base such as pyridine in a neutral solvent and, subsequently, anhydrous K2CO3 is used in alcohol to de-0-acetylate the obtained product to obtain a novel compd.
