Abstract:
To provide a novel antibacterial agent which does not discolor at processing, is excellent in processibility and shelf stability and exerts a high antibacterial property, and a highly safe antibacterial resin composition which has a durable antibacterial effect, can be easily handled and does not easily discolor at use etc.
The antibacterial agent comprises a metal phosphonate formed from a phosphonic acid compound having an aromatic ring, preferably phenyl phosphonic acid, and an antibacterial metal ion, preferably silver ion, copper ion or zinc ion. The antibacterial resin composition contains the antibacterial agent and a resin.
