Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the new compound useful for the therapy of infectious diseases as a lankacidin group antibiotic.
CONSTITUTION: T-2636P,Q,R,T,U of formula I (R1 is O, OH, group of formula II; R2 is H, OH; R3 is H, COCH3) or their salts. The compounds are obtained by culturing a fungus belonging to the genus Streptomyces and capable of producing the T-2636 compounds to produce and accumulate the antibiotic in the cultured solution. The aqueous solution containing the antibiotic is mixed with a cyclodextrin compound (e.g. B-CyD), purified with an adsorptive resin and collected. The T-2636 compounds exhibit a strong antibacterial property against gram-positive bacteria including multiple-resistant bacteria.
