PURPOSE: To provide an aqueous solution composition not foaming, having a good bactericidal force, having excellent stability in a low concentration for a long period, and capable of efficiently utilizing an iodine source.
CONSTITUTION: Iodine is suspended in the aqueous solution of an alkali metal chloride or acid, and chlorine is introduced into the suspension to prepare the aqueous solution composition of iodine monochloride. The amount of the alkali metal chloride or acid is approximately 0.5-30 moles based on the iodine, and the concentration of the iodine monochloride in the solution is about 0.05-60wt.%. The diluted solution (the concentration of the agent is 10-50ppm) of the aqueous solution composition has a good bacterial force against three kinds of bacteria. When the aqueous solution is left at 50°C for 28 days, the active iodine remains in the composition in an amount of 99.5wt.% based on the amount of the iodine at the leaving-starting time.
