To provide an antibacterial metal soap easily handled, enabling an antibacterial ingredient to highly uniformly be dispersed when added to a resin composition, a coating material, fibers, etc., having highly antibacterial property, hardly discoloring, excellent in weather resistance and useful e.g. for producing a resin composition molded article, and also to provide a method for producing the same soap.
This antibacterial metal soap contains fine grains having an average particle diameter of ≤500 nm which is composed of antibacterial metal ingredient and an inorganic oxide except the antibacterial metal ingredient. The antibacterial metal soap is produced by mixing a colloidal solution where the above fine grains are dispersed in an organic solvent with a solution where a metal soap is dissolved in an organic solvent, or by adding a metal soap to the above colloidal solution to dissolve the metal soap and then by evaporating the organic solvent.
