White powder (dihydrochloride of the compound of formula I wherein R1 is -NH- CHO, R2 is H and R3 is group of formula II); molecular weight, (M+H)+ 704 by SIMS process; molecular formula, C26H41N9O12S.2HCl. (2H2O); elemental analysis (%), C 38.43, H 5.83, N 15.51, O 27.56, S 3.95, Cl 8.73; solubility, easily soluble in water, hydrated acetone and hydrated alcohol, hardly soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide, methanol, acetone and ethyl acetate.
USE: Antibacterial agent.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced and accumulated by culturing Xanthomonas lactamgena YK-280 (FERM 7602) in a proper medium under the optimum conditions, i.e. at 17W24°C and 6W7 pH for 24W144hr.
