To obtain a new anticancer agent capable of solving the defect of conventional anticancer agent with serious adverse effects, etc., having a wide anticancer spectrum by including a cryptoporic acid derivative having a specific structure as an active ingredient.
This anticancer agent comprises a cryptoporic acid derivative of the formula (R1 to R3 are each hydrogen, an alkyl or the like; R4 is an alkyl, a hydroxyalkyl or the like; R5 is methylene, methyl or the like) or its dimer as an active ingredient. The cryptpoporic acid derivative is obtained, for example, by cutting the fruit body of Cryptoporus volvatus, immersing the cut Cryptoporus volvatus in a solvent such as ethyl acetate or the like at a room temperature for 1 to 3 days and purifying the extracted essence by combination of a silica gel chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, etc. A composition containing the anticancer agent is administered once to several times dividedly daily by the dose of 0.1-100 mg/kg weight/day.
