Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a cancer treatment composition which contains a monoclonal antibody reactive with IL-2 and GD3 ganglioside and can treat human cancers and activate T-cells. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains a physiologically active amount of IL-2 and a physiologically active amount of a monoclonal antibody immunologically reactive with GD3 ganglioside [for example, mouse monoclonal antibody R24(IgG3), C5(IgG3), K9(IgM)] or its F(ab')2 fragment. The above antibody and its F(ab')2 segment polyvalently binds to T-lymphocytes whereby GD3 positive cell groups are activated, induce the production of IL-2, the expression of IL-2 receptor and cell proliferation. These actions are enhanced by exogenous IL-2, protein A, phorbol myristate acetate.
