PURPOSE: To obtain an antimicrobial agent showing strongly controlling action on moss, molds, etc., occurring in artificial lawn or sand-containing lawn used on sports ground, tennis courts, verandas, etc., by combining a volatile chemical having controlling effect with an adherent resin component.
CONSTITUTION: This antimicrobial agent is obtained by combining a volatile chemical having controlling effect such as organic chlorinebased compounds or organic nitrogen compounds with an adherent resin component such as vinyl acetate resin. When a volatile chemical accepted as a food additive is selected as the volatile chemical, the antimicrobial agent is safe to human body. When the active ingredient of the chemical is dispersed into a solvent such as an alcohol or water, the effect has no variability. The adherent resin component contained in the antimicrobial agent is preferably used in the weight ratio of 1-7%. Since the active ingredient of the antimicrobial agent of volatile type is vaporized with time even if the antimicrobial agent is washed away with rainwater, the antimicrobial agent has high safety to human body and the environment.
