To provide an antireflecting material which prevents sunlight and external light of fluorescent lamp, etc., from being reflected into a display by reducing a reflection factor, capable of obtaining a sharp image free of glaring without decreasing the image contrast and shows optical stability, superior wear resistance and chemical resistance.
This antireflecting material is formed by providing a hard coat layer 12 on one or both the surfaces of a transparent base 11 directly or via another layer and providing a low-refractive-index, layerwhich has a smaller refractive index than the hard coat layer 12 on the surface of the hard coat layer 12. Here, the hard coat layer 12 contains at least either kind of a resin containing sulfur, an aromatic compound or halogen and the difference in the refractive indices between the transparent base 11 and hard coat layer 12 is 0.1 or smaller.
