PURPOSE: To provide an antithrombocytic agent containing 24,25-dihydrocholecalciferol as an active component, having antithrombocytic activity with low side effects, and useful for the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, ischemic cardiopathy, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The objective antithrombocytic agent contains 24,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol (abbreviated as the present substance) of e.g. formula I . The present substance has been already known to have antihypercalcemic and antitumor activities, etc., however, it has been newly found that the compound also has antithromobocytic activity. The present substance is preferably 24R,25-(OH)2- D3 of formula II. In contrast with the activated vitamin D3 analog, the present substance has extremely high safety. Dose: preferably 0.5W1×104μg/day for the treatment of thromobosis, capillaropathy, hyperthrombocytosis, etc. as an antithrombotic agent.
