PURPOSE: To restore surface smoothness without generating the dripping or color mixture of a printing pattern, by quickly heating an article to be transferred after coating and subsequently cooling the same immediately.
CONSTITUTION: Only the recessed parts of a carving roll 1 having a printing pattern carved therein are filled with ink by an ink supply roll 2 and an excessive ink scraping blade 3. Said ink is transferred to a transfer roll 4 from the carving roll 1 and further transferred to the paper 6 passing between the roll 4 and a platen 5. The paper 6 having the ink transferred thereto is subsequently heated to the optimum temp. in a range of 50W150°C quickly from the back surface thereof by a baking roll 7 and the ink is leveled in a semimolten state. Immediately thereafter, the paper 6 is quickly cooled by a cooling roll 8 before the inks at all parts of the pattern are not yet molten to each other and mixed. At this time, leveling is applied to an object where the ink has been thickly transferred thereto by a press roll 9.
