Abstract:
PURPOSE: To keep combustion characteristic in good conditions in a widely extending combustion intensity zone ranging from a low combustion intensity to a high combustion intensity by preventing catalyst used in an apparatus for catalytic combustion from being thermally deteriorated so as to realize high load of combustion, the apparatus being used to make gas or liquid fuel to carry out catalytic combustion for the purpose of heating, room heating, drying, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The title apparatus is provided with a radiant plate 11 having both an inside face lined with a radiant absorption layer 13 and an outside face composed of fins 12, the radiant plate 11 being opposed to the upper stream face of catalyst 8 and covered with a box 14, and an air feeding means 15 for feeding air into the box 14. In a high combustion intensity zone, radiant heat from the catalyst 8 is made to radiate from the radiant plate by forcibly cooling the radiant plate 11 of an elevated temperature so as to lower the temperature of the catalyst 8. In a low combustion intensity zone, the heat radiation from the radiant plate 11 can be suppressed by stopping feeding air into the box 14 so as to prevent the air from moving, thereby avoiding natural convection above the radiant plate 11; therefore, combustion heat is made to remain in the interior of the combustion chamber 7 so that the catalyst temperature rises; thus, the catalyst 8 can exhibit improved catalyst activities and the combustion intensity zone having good combustion characteristics is extended to a low combustion rate.
